Dake Arryn

Dake Arryn is the former Knight of the Bloody Gate and the youngest uncle of Theon Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie and Defender of the Vale. He has held the position from 509 to 515 AC.

He is married to Lysa Waynwood and the couple have a daughter, Alyrie Arryn.

History[]

Dake was confined to a bed for the better part his childhood due to illness. Vale lords often referred to him as a "cripple," though rarely within earshot of the Arryns. He recovered slowly, and as a young adult, eventually was able to lead a normal life. He grew stronger with age as well. Dake was eventually knighted after by his close friend, Kym Egen.

First Era[]

Dake traveled Westeros with his friend, Ser Kym Egen, after recently being knighted himself.

Second Era[]

Dake was appointed Castellan of the Vale when Nathaniel Arryn was appointed to the Small Council.

Third Era[]

In order to get to know the Lords and Ladies of the Vale, Dake Arryn began a journey through the Mountains of the Moon and the Vale of Arryn. On the way he met Lysa Waynwood in Ironaok, where they fell in love. When Nathaniel returned to the Eyrie, he scolded Dake for neglecting his duties as castellan, and gave the position to Elyssa Arryn instead until his eventual more permanent return to the Vale.

Sixth Era[]

Nathaniel allowed Dake to arrange his own betrothal, giving unspoken consent for the younger brother to wed his long-time love interest, Lysa Waynwood. The couple was wed some weeks later at a duel wedding ceremony between them and Dake's sister, Elyssa to Lord Royce.

Seventh Era[]

Dake was given the vacant position and title of the Knight of the Bloody Gate by his brother, despite having little interest in lordship. He and Lysa moved to the Gate to take up residence.

Eighth Era[]

Dake and Lysa had a child near the star of winter. While Nate and Theon were in White Harbor following Sunderland's Rebellion, Dake returned to the Gates of the Moon to take up the duties of Castellan of the Vale once more. He was tasked by his nephew to make arrangements for the second Winged Knights tourney. Instead of doing so directly, he asked Elyssa to see to the event being held outside Gulltown.
