Darlessa Cafferen

Darlessa Cafferen is the Lady of Fawnton and the head of House Cafferen. She has been married to Orbert Cafferen né Dondarrion (the younger cousin of Uthor Dondarrion) for 25+ years and has five children with him. She is currently pregnant with their sixth child which is giving her some health issues.

History

Born into a dominant female house, much was expected of Darlessa during her younger years. Her mother primarily taught her house politics which would be useful for her running the house but she was also taught warfare and weaponry, being taught archery by her uncle.

She was originally set to marry Ormund Dondarrion - whom she felt some affection for - but after he was sent to the Wall, she married his younger cousin instead. The two eventually grew to care for one another but Darlessa has never truly forgotten what Uthor cost her.

Lady Cafferen had two younger sisters but both passed in the early years of her marriage. Falyse, her middle sister, left behind two baseborn siblings who Darlessa takes care of.

Her middle child, Hugh, was born under grotesque conditions which led Darlessa to despise his very existence.

Not long after announcing her pregnancy, her oldest children Perra and Rolland began to take a more active role in the running of the house as they were worried that the pregnancy would be a stressful one due to her advanced age. Darlessa has been trying her hardest to convince them that the pregnancy will go smoothly despite her own doubts.

Not long after the death of Alyn Connington, Darlessa was summoned by Orys Connington to attend his funeral. She ultimately accepted the invitation, simply as she felt the need to show the Lord Paramount where House Cafferen's loyalties rested as.
