Saera Paenymion (née Tessarion) is Lady Freeholder of the Tessarion Family's estates and properties around Volantis and Volon Therys. She is also the widowed daughter-in-law of the Paenymion Family patriarch (and ex-Triarch), Doniphos Paenymion.
In 512 A.C., Saera announced her intention to run for Triarch in the upcoming elections. Although endorsed by the trade-focussed Elephant Party, Saera's deepseated trauma at witnessing her husband's murder during a Dothraki raid has led to a change in her political views.
History[]
Hailing from the Tessarion family of Old Valyria, Saera was born in 480 A.C. in the Blue Palace behind the Black Walls of Old Volantis. An only child, Saera was educated and groomed into managing the family's business, which provides a substantial amount of the crops received by Volantis and Volon Therys.
Saera met and married into the politically affluent Paenymion family—staunch advocates of the Elephant party. Although never interested in politics herself, Saera instead preferred to focus on raising her two small children and handling her family's trade businesses. It was her husband who sought political and social change by attempting to become Triarch. He had been nominated as a Candidate when the Sack of Volantis by the Dothraki occurred, resulting in the death of Saera’s parents and husband. Although wealthy, Saera’s only surviving family (besides her children) is her father-in-law, the ex-Triarch Doniphos Paenymion.

Saera's father-in-law, Doniphos Paenymion, travels to Volon Therys to discuss her intentions to run for Triarch in the upcoming elections in Volantis. Although poling favourably among public, Doniphos warns her of the potential pitfalls and dangers of going out into the spotlight. They then travel to Volantis to begin their campaign.
