A harbor city in the North. The seat of House Manderly. It is the largest settlement north of the Neck.

Whiteharbor

The City

White Harbor is on the eastern shore of the White Knife. It is clean and well-ordered, with wide straight cobbled streets that make it easy to walk around. The houses are built of whitewashed stone, with steeply-pitched roofs of dark grey slate.

Notable Locations

  • The Outer Harbor, is the largest harbor in the city, open to all ships poor and foreign alike. Winesinks, gaming dens, and brothels line up at the street nearby for entertainment.
  • The Inner Harbor, cleaner than the outer harbor. It is smaller as well and provides better anchorage thanks to a long white wall on one side and the looming castle of Wolf's Den on another. The Northern Fleet is stationed here when not patrolling, along with local trading galleys inspected by customs officers and rich Eastern vessels who've paid a costly fee.
  • Old Seal Gate, connects the outer harbor into the city.
  • Fish Market, This is where fishermen set up wooden stalls for their makeshift market to sell their catch.
  • Fishfoot Yard, a cobbled square that has a fountain of a Merman called "Old Fishfoot" at its centre. Some merchants and pedlars have also set up vendors nearby, selling trinkets and other things.
  • Sept of the Snow, largest Sept in the North and White Harbor. It is a white domed building surrounded by tall statues of the Seven.
  • Castle Stairs, broad white stone steps that lead up to the Wolf's Den and to New Castle by the hill.
  • Wolf's Den, an ancient ruin of a castle that serves as the dungeons for House Manderly. Within it's godswood hosts the only weirwood heart tree found in the city.
  • New Castle, the main seat of House Manderly. It is located on a hill inside the city wall, a broad white stone way of Castle Stair leads to its gates from the Wolf's Den below. There is a secret passage beneath the Castle Stair connecting it to the Wolf's Den. It is modelled after it's old keep, Dunstonbury, from when they lived in the Reach.
  • New Seal Gate, one of the three main gates that open to the city. It was refurbished and renamed during the Blind King’s time. It has two large marble carvings of playful seals on their backs, placed on either side of the passageway.
  • Trident's Forge, a street that is home to White Harbor’s most exorbitant, famous and most experienced silversmiths. It also boasts a small number of experienced goldsmiths, locksmiths and blacksmiths. During winter, the snow on the street would mix with smoke turning it black and into sludge.
